I’d like to invite you to a recital I am giving with two colleagues, Cressida Godfrey (flute) and Frannie Millar (soprano) at St. Peter’s Church, Petersfield on Saturday 1st June. Our programme will feature music by a variety of extraordinary female composers from different eras, much of which has been unjustifiably neglected until recent times.

Cressida and I will be performing flute sonatas by Wilhelmine von Bayreuth, the older sister of King Frederick the Great of Prussia, and by Mel Bonis, the remarkable 19th century French composer of so many beautiful chamber works. Frannie will sing lieder by Clara Schumann and by the Croatian composer, Dora Pejačević, whose stunning compositions are being increasingly rediscovered. The recital will also include piano music by Amy Beach and other works by Lili Boulanger and Cécile Chaminade.

Admission is free with a retiring collection and refreshments will be available during the interval.

We very much hope to see you there!
