Beethoven is the presiding genius who towers over our summer concert: his iconic masterwork the Fifth Symphony surprises with fresh impact on every hearing.

The French composer Saint-Saëns revered Beethoven and we can look forward to hearing the third – and most substantial – of his Violin Concertos played by the gifted young British virtuoso Mathilde Milwidsky (pictured), holder of a prestigious Countess of Munster Award.

The concert begins with music by another Beethoven devotee, Anton Bruckner, whose early Overture anticipates the nine mighty symphonies that followed it. Petersfield Orchestra will be playing Bruckner for the first time – but hopefully not the last. Mark the date!

A free pre-concert event at 6.30 in the Hall.
